Facebook App Centre is out for IOS and Android

SOCIAL NETWORK Facebook has put up its Google Play rival, Facebook App Centre, for IOS and Android devices.

The service, which was announced back in May, aims to boost Facebook's presence in the mobile arena, promising to help users find the best apps that their friends enjoy on their smartphone devices. Arriving with 600 apps, the virtual store gives a detailed description of each app and enables users to download apps directly.

Facebook App Centre also recommends desktop and web apps, such as Pintrest, Spotify and Draw Something.

Matt Wyndowe, product manager at Facebook explained, "To make it easier to find social apps for mobile, the App Centre is available in the Facebook IOS and Android apps, as well as Facebook.com.

"You can send apps you find on your computer to your mobile device using the new 'Send to Mobile' feature. If a mobile app requires a download, you'll be sent to install it from the Apple App Store or Google Play."

App Centre also aims to encourage developers to create paid for apps for Facebook.com, with the social network planning to take a 30 per cent cut of developers' revenue - the same share taken by Apple for IOS apps.

It seems that the service is only available in the US right now, as we were told our device wasn't supported yet. However, Facebook has promised that it will be available worldwide in the coming weeks. ?
